About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Ogain Prefilled Syringe contains Denosumab 60 mg, a fully human monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and inhibits RANKL (Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B Ligand), a key mediator of osteoclast formation, function, and survival. By binding to RANKL, Denosumab reduces bone resorption and increases bone mass and strength in both cortical and trabecular bone. Ogain is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at increased risk of fractures, as well as for the prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. The prefilled syringe formulation allows for subcutaneous administration, typically every six months, providing a convenient dosing regimen that enhances patient compliance. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Denosumab significantly reduces the incidence of vertebral, non-vertebral, and hip fractures. Additionally, it is used in the management of giant cell tumor of bone and other conditions characterized by increased bone turnover. Patients receiving Ogain should be monitored for hypocalcemia, and adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is recommended to minimize this risk. Contraindications include hypocalcemia and known hypersensitivity to Denosumab or any of the excipients. Regular dental examinations are advised due to the potential risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw.
