About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Gatofos 70 Tablet contains Alendronic Acid 70 mg, a bisphosphonate used primarily in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Alendronic Acid acts by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures in patients with osteoporosis, particularly postmenopausal women and individuals undergoing corticosteroid therapy. Gatofos 70 is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women to reduce the incidence of vertebral and hip fractures, as well as for the treatment of osteoporosis in men. It is also prescribed for the management of Paget’s disease of bone, where abnormal bone remodeling occurs. The tablet should be taken orally with a full glass of water, preferably in the morning, at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medications to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Patients are advised to remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-administration to prevent esophageal irritation or ulceration. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia, and musculoskeletal pain. Caution is warranted in patients with esophageal abnormalities, hypocalcemia, or renal impairment. Regular monitoring of calcium levels and renal function is recommended during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy.
