About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Gemidro Tablet contains Ibandronic Acid 150 mg, a bisphosphonate indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and other conditions associated with increased bone resorption. Ibandronic Acid acts by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures. This medication is particularly effective in reducing vertebral fractures and is also used in the management of Paget’s disease of bone and certain malignancy-related bone complications. Gemidro Tablet should be administered orally, preferably with a full glass of water at least 60 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medication of the day to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Patients are advised to remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-dose to prevent esophageal irritation or ulceration. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia, and musculoskeletal pain. It is contraindicated in patients with hypocalcemia, esophageal abnormalities, or inability to remain upright. Adequate calcium and vitamin D supplementation should be ensured during therapy. Regular monitoring of renal function and serum calcium levels is recommended. Gemidro Tablet offers an effective therapeutic option for maintaining bone health and reducing fracture risk in susceptible patient populations.
