Zocovic Tablet contains a combination of Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, formulated to provide a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. Amoxycillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing the enzymatic degradation of Amoxycillin by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. This combination is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to Amoxycillin alone. Zocovic is indicated for the treatment of various infections such as respiratory tract infections (including sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. It is also useful in managing bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms in dental infections and prophylaxis in certain surgical procedures. The dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection and patient-specific factors. Zocovic should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or beta-lactamase inhibitors.
