About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Miliclav Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid, indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Each tablet contains Amoxycillin 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, prevents enzymatic degradation of Amoxycillin by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria. This synergistic combination provides enhanced efficacy against susceptible bacterial pathogens, including Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Miliclav Tablet is effective in treating infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis media, sinusitis, and skin infections. The recommended adult dosage is one tablet every 8 hours, with a maximum duration of 14 days. The tablet is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to Amoxycillin or Clavulanic Acid, and in patients with severe renal impairment. As with all antibiotics, prolonged use may lead to emergence of resistant bacteria, and appropriate culture and susceptibility testing should be performed before initiation of therapy.
