About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Zifpime-TZ Injection is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefepime 1000 mg and Tazobactam 125 mg, indicated for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefepime, a fourth-generation cephalosporin, exhibits potent bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Tazobactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of cefepime by preventing the enzymatic degradation of the beta-lactam ring, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum to beta-lactamase producing organisms. Zifpime-TZ Injection is utilized in the management of complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia, and febrile neutropenia. The combination is administered via intravenous infusion, ensuring rapid systemic distribution and optimal therapeutic levels. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and transient hematological changes. Caution is advised in patients with a history of beta-lactam allergy. Zifpime-TZ Injection should be used under strict medical supervision, with therapy guided by culture and sensitivity results to prevent antimicrobial resistance.
