Yefur 500 Tablet contains Cefuroxime 500 mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Yefur 500 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, septicemia, and Lyme disease. It is also used for the management of otitis media and pharyngitis caused by susceptible organisms. The tablet is administered orally and is well absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 2-3 hours post-dose. Dosage and duration of therapy depend on the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors including renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain, as well as hypersensitivity reactions like rash or pruritus. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy.
