About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Xolid Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). It is primarily prescribed for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Linezolid acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, preventing the formation of the initiation complex essential for bacterial translation. Xolid is administered orally, with excellent bioavailability, allowing effective systemic concentrations. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and reversible myelosuppression, particularly thrombocytopenia, which necessitates regular blood count monitoring during prolonged therapy. Linezolid is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors or serotonergic agents due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizures or optic neuropathy. Xolid Tablet should be used under strict medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the development of antibiotic resistance.
