Xoclave 375 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 250 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending the antibacterial spectrum. This combination is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sinusitis. Xoclave 375 Tablet is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including beta-lactamase-producing strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Haemophilus influenzae. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined by the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Use of Xoclave 375 Tablet should be guided by culture and sensitivity results whenever possible to minimize the development of antibiotic resistance. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or beta-lactamase inhibitors.
