About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Xigamax PG Capsule contains Pregabalin 75 mg, an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent indicated for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and spinal cord injury. It is also prescribed as adjunctive therapy for partial onset seizures in adults and for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Pregabalin acts by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, thereby modulating calcium influx and reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P. This mechanism contributes to its analgesic, anxiolytic, and anticonvulsant effects. Xigamax PG Capsule is administered orally, with dosage individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition and response to therapy. Common adverse effects include dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, edema, and weight gain. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Xigamax PG Capsule should be used under medical supervision, with regular monitoring to assess therapeutic efficacy and tolerability. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of its excipients.
