About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Wipac-C Gel is a topical dermatological formulation containing Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5% w/w) and Clindamycin (1% w/w), designed for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Benzoyl Peroxide acts as a potent keratolytic and comedolytic agent with bactericidal properties against Propionibacterium acnes, reducing inflammation and preventing the formation of new acne lesions. Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, thereby exerting an antimicrobial effect that further targets P. acnes and diminishes inflammatory acne lesions. The combination of these two active ingredients provides a synergistic effect, enhancing therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the risk of antibiotic resistance commonly associated with monotherapy. Wipac-C Gel is indicated for mild to moderate inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne, including comedones, papules, and pustules. It is applied topically once or twice daily to affected areas, with care taken to avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and broken skin. Patients should be advised to use a non-comedogenic moisturizer and sunscreen during treatment to mitigate potential dryness and photosensitivity. Wipac-C Gel is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, or any component of the formulation. Adverse effects may include mild erythema, peeling, or dryness at the application site, which typically resolve with continued use.
