Oppo-Clav Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefuroxime 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively targeting both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby overcoming resistance mechanisms in beta-lactamase producing bacteria. Oppo-Clav is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sinusitis caused by susceptible strains. The combination is particularly useful in infections where beta-lactamase producing pathogens are suspected or confirmed.
