About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Moxicon Eye Drop is a sterile, preservative-free, aqueous solution containing 0.5% w/v of Moxifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is intended for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and corneal ulcers caused by susceptible microorganisms. Moxifloxacin exhibits a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The product is effective in treating inflammatory conditions such as conjunctivitis, with its anti-inflammatory properties reducing redness and discomfort. It is also used to manage corneal ulcers, promoting healing and preventing further complications. Moxicon Eye Drop is administered topically, 2-3 times daily, with the patient's eyes open, allowing the solution to flow freely over the conjunctiva. The recommended treatment duration is 7-14 days, or until the infection has resolved. As with any topical ophthalmic product, caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing corneal defects, glaucoma, or known hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin.
