About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Luxigen Cream contains Gentamicin 0.3% w/w, an aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of aerobic gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. It is indicated for the topical treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the skin such as impetigo, infected eczema, folliculitis, and minor wounds or burns complicated by susceptible organisms. Gentamicin acts by binding irreversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial cell death. Luxigen Cream should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area two to three times daily, with the duration of therapy typically ranging from 7 to 10 days or as directed by a healthcare professional. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gentamicin or other aminoglycosides. Caution is advised when applying to large areas or broken skin to minimize systemic absorption and potential toxicity. Adverse reactions are generally mild and may include local irritation, itching, or rash. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision. Patients are advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Luxigen Cream is intended for external use only and should be stored at controlled room temperature away from direct sunlight.
