About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Moncef S 1000mg/500mg Injection is a sterile, lyophilized powder for reconstitution and injection, containing a fixed combination of cefoperazone (1000mg) and sulbactam (500mg). Cefoperazone is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Sulbactam, a β-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the activity of cefoperazone by inhibiting the action of β-lactamases, thereby broadening the spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Moncef S is indicated for the treatment of severe infections, including pneumonia, septicemia, and skin and soft tissue infections, caused by susceptible bacteria. The product should be reconstituted with Sterile Water for Injection and administered intravenously every 8 to 12 hours. As with all antimicrobial agents, use of Moncef S should be based on a thorough understanding of the patient's clinical status, the microbiological diagnosis, and the effectiveness of the treatment.

About Cefoperazone
Cefoperazone is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory and urinary tract infections. In summary, it is a critical antibiotic for managing infections.
How It Works
Cefoperazone binds to penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis and leading to cell death.
All Active Ingredients
Sulbactam
