About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Maxim Eye Drop contains Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. Moxifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell proliferation. Maxim Eye Drop is formulated for topical ophthalmic use, providing targeted delivery to the site of infection with minimal systemic absorption. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. The recommended dosage is one to two drops instilled into the affected eye(s) every two to four hours for the first two days, followed by one to two drops every four to six hours for the subsequent five days or as directed by a healthcare professional. Patients should avoid contamination of the dropper tip and discontinue use if hypersensitivity or adverse reactions such as eye irritation, redness, or swelling occur. Maxim Eye Drop should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones. It is contraindicated in viral or fungal eye infections.
