About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Lupin's Mxg Eye Drop contains Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. Moxifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby leading to bacterial cell death. This ophthalmic solution is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Lupin's Mxg Eye Drop is typically administered as one drop into the affected eye(s) every 2 to 4 hours for the first two days, followed by a reduced frequency of 2 to 4 times daily for up to 7 days, or as directed by a healthcare professional. It is important to complete the full course of therapy to prevent the development of resistance. The formulation is preservative-free or contains minimal preservatives to reduce ocular irritation. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other quinolones. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include transient burning or stinging upon instillation. Lupin's Mxg Eye Drop should be stored at room temperature, protected from light.
