About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Latixon-CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by preventing enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Latixon-CV 625 is indicated for the management of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sinusitis caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains producing beta-lactamase enzymes. It is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Latixon-CV 625 should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of resistance development.
