Kicef-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200mg and Ofloxacin 200mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for DNA replication and transcription, thereby preventing bacterial proliferation. The synergistic action of these two agents provides enhanced efficacy against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to single-agent therapy. Kicef-O is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible organisms.
