About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Injayclav 375 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 250 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that degrade amoxycillin, rendering it ineffective. Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protecting amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation and thereby extending its antimicrobial spectrum. Injayclav 375 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase producing strains. The tablet should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, typically every 8 to 12 hours, with dosage adjusted according to the severity of infection and patient factors such as age and renal function. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or hepatic impairment. Proper adherence to the prescribed regimen is essential to prevent resistance development and ensure therapeutic efficacy.
