Ibflux Oral Solution contains Lactulose 10gm per 15ml, a synthetic disaccharide used primarily as an osmotic laxative for the treatment of chronic constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. Lactulose is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract; instead, it is metabolized by colonic bacteria into low molecular weight organic acids, which increase osmotic pressure and promote water retention in the colon, thereby softening stools and facilitating bowel movements. Ibflux Oral Solution is indicated for patients experiencing constipation due to various etiologies, including opioid-induced constipation and slow-transit constipation, as well as for reducing blood ammonia levels in hepatic encephalopathy by acidifying the colon and converting ammonia to ammonium ions, which are less readily absorbed. The solution is administered orally, with dosage individualized based on patient response and clinical condition. Common side effects include flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea, which are generally mild and transient. Caution is advised in patients with galactosemia or those requiring electrolyte monitoring. Ibflux Oral Solution should be used under medical supervision, particularly in long-term therapy, to ensure efficacy and safety. It is contraindicated in cases of intestinal obstruction or acute surgical abdomen.
