About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Holymox Eye Drop contains Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. Moxifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby exerting a bactericidal effect. Holymox Eye Drop is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. The formulation is intended for topical ocular use and should be administered as per the prescribing physician’s instructions, typically one drop instilled into the affected eye(s) three times daily for 7 days or as directed. Patients should avoid contact lens use during treatment unless otherwise advised. Common adverse reactions may include transient ocular discomfort, burning, or irritation upon instillation. Holymox Eye Drop is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other quinolones. Proper hygiene should be maintained to prevent contamination of the dropper tip. This medication should be used with caution in patients with a history of ocular inflammation or hypersensitivity reactions. Consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen.
