Hikem Tablet contains Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg, an antimalarial and immunomodulatory agent primarily used in the treatment and prevention of malaria, as well as autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Hydroxychloroquine functions by interfering with lysosomal activity and autophagy in immune cells, thereby modulating immune responses and reducing inflammation. It is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of acute attacks of malaria caused by Plasmodium species sensitive to the drug. Additionally, it is employed as a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) to alleviate symptoms and slow disease progression in autoimmune conditions. Hikem Tablet should be administered under medical supervision, with dosage tailored to the specific condition and patient response. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and skin rash. Long-term use necessitates regular ophthalmologic examinations due to the risk of retinopathy.
