About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Hhcepo-CV Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, combining a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a prodrug that, upon absorption, is converted to the active form cefpodoxime, which inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid enhances the efficacy of cefpodoxime by irreversibly inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby preventing antibiotic degradation. This combination is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics. Hhcepo-CV is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and other susceptible bacterial infections. It should be used as directed by a healthcare professional, with dosage adjusted based on infection severity and patient factors. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Proper adherence to prescribed therapy is essential to prevent resistance development.
