Gramocef-O 100mg Tablet DT contains Cefixime 100mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and certain sexually transmitted infections such as uncomplicated gonorrhea. Cefixime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The dispersible tablet formulation allows for ease of administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric patients who may have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets. Gramocef-O should be used according to susceptibility patterns and clinical guidelines to minimize the risk of resistance development. The usual adult dosage is 400 mg daily, administered as a single dose or divided doses, while pediatric dosing is weight-based. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain.
