Gramocef-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefixime by preventing the degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Gramocef-CV is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhea caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly useful in infections where beta-lactamase-producing pathogens are suspected or confirmed. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Gramocef-CV should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the development of antibiotic resistance.
