It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth. Glevo 500 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis exacerbations, and sinusitis; urinary tract infections including complicated and uncomplicated cases; skin and soft tissue infections; and certain types of prostatitis. It is also used in the management of bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains, including those resistant to other antibiotics. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage and duration dependent on the type and severity of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as renal function. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and photosensitivity.
