It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Gatican Eye Drop is primarily used in the management of bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible strains. The formulation ensures rapid penetration into ocular tissues, providing effective antimicrobial activity with minimal systemic absorption. It is generally well tolerated, with adverse effects being mild and transient, including ocular irritation, burning sensation, or dryness. Gatican Eye Drop should be administered as prescribed, typically one to two drops instilled into the affected eye(s) every two to four hours initially, followed by a reduced frequency as the infection resolves.
