ZOSTUM 1000 MG/1000 MG Injection is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefoperazone 1000 mg and Sulbactam 1000 mg, indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefoperazone by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum against beta-lactamase producing bacteria. This injectable preparation is utilized in managing infections such as lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, septicemia, and gynecological infections. ZOSTUM is particularly effective against multidrug-resistant strains and is administered intravenously or intramuscularly as per clinical judgment.
