Zolovion 20mg Tablet contains Rabeprazole 20mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion. It is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease. Rabeprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing the final step in gastric acid production. This results in decreased acid secretion, promoting healing of acid-related lesions and relief of symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation. Zolovion is typically administered orally once daily, preferably before meals, with dosage and duration tailored to the specific condition and patient response. Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and flatulence, though it is generally well tolerated. Long-term use should be monitored due to potential risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and increased susceptibility to gastrointestinal infections.
