Zoflick-OZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin and Ornidazole, indicated for the treatment of a variety of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription in susceptible organisms. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell death. This synergistic combination is particularly useful in managing mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, such as gastrointestinal infections, genitourinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Zoflick-OZ is prescribed based on susceptibility patterns and clinical judgment, with dosage adjusted according to the severity and site of infection. The tablet should be taken with adequate water, preferably after meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, as well as in those with hepatic or renal impairment.
