Zedex Cough Syrup is a combination medication formulated to provide effective relief from cough and allergic symptoms. It contains Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2mg/5ml), an antihistamine that helps alleviate allergic reactions such as runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes by blocking histamine H1 receptors. Additionally, it includes Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (10mg/5ml), a centrally acting antitussive agent that suppresses the cough reflex by acting on the cough center in the medulla oblongata. This dual-action formulation is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of cough associated with upper respiratory tract infections, allergic rhinitis, and other conditions where cough and allergy coexist. Zedex Cough Syrup is suitable for use in adults and children as per the recommended dosage. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its components, and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
