Zandap Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 10 mg, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels independently of insulin secretion. Zandap is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy when metformin is contraindicated or as part of combination therapy with other antidiabetic agents. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c levels, with additional benefits including modest weight loss and reduction in systolic blood pressure. Zandap is generally well tolerated; however, patients should be monitored for potential adverse effects such as urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and volume depletion. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or on dialysis. Caution is advised in patients at risk for ketoacidosis or hypotension. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy.
