Yuvidox 200 Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. This medication is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. Cefpodoxime Proxetil exhibits good oral bioavailability and is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, with peak plasma concentrations typically achieved within 2 to 3 hours post-administration. It is generally well tolerated; however, common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions, including rash and anaphylaxis, although rare, may occur, particularly in patients with a history of cephalosporin or penicillin allergy.
