Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum to beta-lactamase producing resistant strains. This synergistic combination is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. Xtrapod CV Dry Syrup is particularly useful in pediatric patients requiring oral therapy where compliance and palatability are important considerations.
