It functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and leading to cell death. Xolfo 200 is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted diseases caused by susceptible organisms. The tablet should be administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as renal function. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and occasionally photosensitivity.
