Xetpod 200 DT Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, thereby exerting a bactericidal effect. This medication is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. Xetpod 200 DT is formulated as a dispersible tablet, allowing for ease of administration, particularly in patients who have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets. The drug demonstrates good oral bioavailability and is well absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 2 to 3 hours post-administration. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function, with typical adult dosing ranging from 200 mg twice daily. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals.
