X-Vis 250 Tablet contains Cefuroxime 250 mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefuroxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. X-Vis 250 is also used in the management of otitis media and sinusitis caused by susceptible organisms. The drug exhibits bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to first-generation cephalosporins. It is administered orally, with absorption enhanced when taken with food. The usual adult dosage varies depending on the severity and type of infection but typically ranges from 250 mg to 500 mg twice daily. Cefuroxime is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in patients with penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Use of X-Vis 250 should be guided by susceptibility testing and clinical response to minimize the development of resistance. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, and dosage adjustments may be necessary.
