Wormox-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. However, many bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that inactivate amoxycillin, reducing its efficacy. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation, thereby extending its antibacterial activity against resistant strains. Wormox-CV is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is effective against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase producing strains. The usual dosage and duration depend on the severity and type of infection, and it should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and rash.
