Wokxime-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, while Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone, interferes with bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and transcription. This synergistic action enhances antibacterial efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, making Wokxime-O effective in managing respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. The tablet is indicated for infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus species, Haemophilus influenzae, and others. Wokxime-O should be prescribed based on culture and sensitivity testing to reduce the risk of resistance development. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, as well as potential hypersensitivity reactions.
