About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Wallbact-CV Tablet contains Cefuroxime 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg, combining a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Cefuroxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by irreversibly inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby preventing antibiotic degradation. Wallbact-CV is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sinusitis caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly useful in infections caused by beta-lactamase producing strains. It should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, with dosage adjusted based on infection severity, renal function, and patient response. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances like diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions, though rare, require immediate medical attention. Wallbact-CV is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to cephalosporins, penicillins, or clavulanic acid. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision. Proper adherence to prescribed therapy is essential to prevent resistance development.
