Osixim-AZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime (200mg), Azithromycin (250mg), and Lactobacillus (60 million spores) designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively targeting gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, impedes bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, providing additional coverage against atypical and intracellular organisms. The inclusion of Lactobacillus, a probiotic strain, helps maintain gut flora balance and reduces the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Osixim-AZ is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections where polymicrobial etiology is suspected or confirmed. The combination therapy aims to enhance antimicrobial efficacy while minimizing resistance development.
