Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair, thereby exhibiting broad-spectrum activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by causing DNA strand breaks and inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis.
