Omra 5 Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 5mg, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption, promoting urinary glucose excretion and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Omra 5 is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c levels, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional benefits on blood pressure. The medication is generally well tolerated; however, it may increase the risk of urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and volume depletion-related adverse effects. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, as efficacy diminishes with declining kidney function, and it is contraindicated in severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy. Omra 5 should be used under medical supervision, with dose adjustments based on individual response and tolerability. It is not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
