Omnix 100 DT Tablet contains Cefixime 100 mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, making it bactericidal. Omnix 100 DT is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. The tablet is designed as a dispersible formulation, allowing rapid disintegration in the oral cavity, facilitating ease of administration, especially in pediatric and geriatric patients who may have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets. Cefixime demonstrates good oral bioavailability and achieves therapeutic concentrations in urine, respiratory tract, and middle ear fluids. It is generally well-tolerated, with common adverse effects including gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions are rare but warrant immediate discontinuation of therapy. Omnix 100 DT should be used with caution in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy.
