Omcef 200 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, indicated for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby disrupting cell integrity and leading to cell death. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and transcription, resulting in the inhibition of bacterial growth. This synergistic combination enhances antibacterial efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to monotherapy. Omcef 200 is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible organisms. The tablet should be administered orally, preferably with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
