Oflotreat-M Oral Suspension is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200 mg, Metronidazole 120 mg, and Simethicone 10 mg per dose. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication and transcription. Metronidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing strand breakage. Simethicone acts as an anti-foaming agent, reducing bloating and discomfort caused by excess gas in the gastrointestinal tract. This oral suspension is indicated for the treatment of mixed aerobic and anaerobic bacterial infections, including gastrointestinal infections, intra-abdominal infections, and certain protozoal infections. The combination therapy enhances antimicrobial efficacy by targeting a wide range of pathogens, while simethicone provides symptomatic relief from gas-related discomfort.
