Metronidazole is an effective nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent targeting anaerobic bacteria and protozoa through disruption of DNA synthesis. Simethicone acts as an anti-foaming agent that reduces bloating and discomfort caused by excess gas in the gastrointestinal tract by coalescing gas bubbles, facilitating their elimination. This oral suspension is indicated for the treatment of mixed bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract, including amoebiasis, giardiasis, and bacterial diarrhea, where both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens are suspected, accompanied by symptoms of abdominal distension and flatulence.
