Office-OZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg, indicated for the treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by causing DNA strand breakage and inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis. This synergistic combination is particularly useful in managing infections where both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens coexist, such as gastrointestinal infections, genitourinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain dental infections. Office-OZ Tablet should be administered as per the prescribed dosage regimen, typically after meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and use is contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy and lactation. Common adverse effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and mild gastrointestinal disturbances. It is essential to complete the full course of therapy to prevent the development of resistance. Renal and hepatic function should be monitored during prolonged use.
