About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Oboravo 10mg Tablet contains Empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By selectively inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, Empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption, promoting urinary glucose excretion and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Oboravo is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and postprandial glucose levels. Additionally, Empagliflozin has shown benefits in reducing body weight and systolic blood pressure, contributing to overall cardiovascular risk reduction. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily, taken orally in the morning, with or without food. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and increased urination. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, as efficacy diminishes with declining renal function. Oboravo is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severe renal impairment. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy.
